All non-thesis students pursuing an online master’s in tourism and hospitality management must work directly with their advisor to complete a Capstone Project, which serves as the exit requirement for the degree. The four major sections of the Capstone course include a statement of purpose, professional documentation, an application of scholarship to practical setting, and the completion of an alumni information sheet. This project is the final step in the degree process and must be completed in the student’s final semester prior to graduation. The purpose of the Capstone Project is:

  • To assist students with the identification of personal and professional goals

  • Demonstrate that students are able to take newly acquired knowledge and skills and apply them to professional practice

  • Help students understand their weaknesses and strengths when seeking employment

  • Prepare students to seek employment by effectively promoting themselves


SUBMISSION GUIDELINES FOR CAPSTONE PROJECT

During the semester when you plan to graduate, you will be added to a Canvas site to submit your project. Your submission must be in accordance with APA 6th edition (e.g., cover page, table of contents, header, page numbering, section and subsection headings, margins, font, spacing). Failure to follow these instructions or the submission of plagiarized work may result in failure of the Capstone Project and a delay of your graduation.


SUBMISSION DEADLINES

If the due date falls on a holiday, then your project is due the prior day:

  • December graduation: Last Friday of October

  • Spring graduation: First Friday of March

  • Summer graduation: Last Friday of June
